We have had another week of great learning, with children taking part in exciting topics from the Titanic in Key Stage 1 to Julia Donaldson in EYFS. Children are catching up with any learning they missed and we were extremely pleased with the assessments that took place last week. This has allowed teachers to identify any gaps in learning, so that support can be put in place over the following term.
Summer term activities
This year has been a difficult year with many activities having to be cancelled or done in a different way. We are hoping that, as restrictions ease, we will be able to reintroduce some of our usual annual activities.
Transition will take place in the week commencing Monday 5th July. Children will be able to visit their new classes and meet their new teachers. We will be letting children know who their new class teacher is when we send the reports out on Friday 2nd July. We are waiting to hear from the secondary schools what transition will look like for our year 6 children who will be leaving us.
Children moving into our reception classes will be receiving a letter next week to inform them of their transition arrangements. We are hoping to have a Meet the Team BBQ on the field but again this will be dependent on the easing of restrictions.
Sports day will take place in the week commencing 21st June. We will let you know nearer the time if parents are able to attend this event, or if this will take place in school with the children.
School photos are booked for the Monday 21st June. We will only be able to do individual and class photos this year and not family as we usually would. We are using a different company this year and we are very excited to see the new format.
The Year 6 Leaver’s assembly will be on Thursday 15th July in the afternoon. Children will take part in the assembly in school and we will look at how we can involve parents in this.
As the weather gets warmer we ask that, when needed, you apply sun cream to your child before they come to school and ensure that water bottles are brought in each day. Staff are not able to apply sun cream for children in Years 1-6.
Children in Early Years are asked to bring a small bottle of cream that can be kept in school because of the amount of time they spend outside each day.
We are hoping to finish the year with a family picnic on the field on Wednesday 14th July. We will let you know nearer the time if we are able to do this.
As always we would like to thank you for your continued support. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
