Newsletter – 28th May 2021

The last week of term is finally here and I think we will all agree that the children are ready for a rest to recharge their batteries ready for the final 6 weeks of the year when we return.

We would like to thank you for the support over the past half term and hope that after the holidays we will begin to see a return to a bit more normality. This is all subject to the guidance we receive and we will just have to wait until we can make any final arrangements. We are still aiming to do our annual events whether that is just with the children or with parents if restrictions ease.

Sports day

Sports day will take place for all children in the week commencing Monday 21st June. Children will need to wear their P.E kits on this day. We will let you know nearer the time if we are able to invite parents to this event.

EYFS- Wednesday 23rd June (AM)

Key stage 1 Wednesday 23rd June (PM)

Key stage 2 Thursday 24th June (PM)

Children will be bringing home their yearly reports on Friday 2nd July. The reports will also inform you of the classes for next year. Children in Nursery will find out their classes at the EYFS BBQ (if this is allowed to happen)

We are hoping that our children in Nursery who are moving into reception will be able to attend a BBQ on the field on the 29th June. This will be a chance for your child to meet their new teacher and find out which class they will be in.

Parent transition meetings

Each phase will be holding a meeting for parents after school to give you further information about their new class and to give you chance to meet the teachers. We are hoping to be able to do these in school but if not we will hold them over zoom.

Upper key stage 2- Monday 5th July

Key Stage 1- Tuesday 6th July

Reception -Wednesday 7th July

Lower key stage 2 Thursday -8th July

#Eat Them to Defeat Them

You may have seen on TV the ‘Eat Them to Defeat Them’ campaign. School and our catering team are supporting this campaign which aims to encourage children to eat more vegetables and bring positive changes in children’s attitudes towards vegetables. The award winning campaign has been created by Veg Power in partnership with ITV, Channel 4 and Sky and is well endorsed by celebrities and chefs. Please look out for an activity pack which will be sent home with your child the first day back after half term, which contains a reward chart, stickers and a puzzle book. Each week will see a different vegetable highlighted and samples taken round to class for the children to try.

New Dinner Menu – 21st June

A new dinner menu will be running from Monday 21st June. Please don’t pre-book any meals for that date on the school gateway as the new menu has not been uploaded by their team yet. A copy of the menu will be sent out after half term.

Beat the Street

Beat the Street is back! This year the game will run from Thursday 10th June to Thursday 22nd July. Fobs for each child and a Parent/Carer envelope (containing a card and information about the game) will be handed out after half term.

If anyone has any old fashioned suitcases at home which you would like to donate to school please get in touch. Miss Darrington is looking for some old fashioned leather/trunk style suitcases to keep a selection of books in so they can be taken out to the field at break times for the children to enjoy.

Final week

We will do our best to involve parents in our final week activities but again these may have to take place with just the children. We will give you as much notice as possible if we are allowed parents into school.

Monday 12th July and Tuesday 13th July- Year 6 Summer Show – (date change due to Y6 transition dates)

Wednesday 14th July- Family picnic

Thursday 15th July- Y6 assembly

Friday 16th July- Final assembly

We hope you have a lovely break over half term and we look forward to seeing everyone back in school on Monday 7th June.
